Colony Club by Elegant Hotels — Barbados
So you've seen the first post from our trip to Barbados; you've dipped your toes in the clear waters, felt the (very welcome) breeze through your hair and your head is a little hazy from the all that rum... Today we'll take you on a vicarious tour of the hotel that became our Barbados home; welcome to Colony Club by Elegant Hotels.
Colony Club lies on the west coast of the island, just north of the infamous Sandy Lane and off the main road in Holetown, where the English initially built their settlements waaaaay back in 1625. It's close proximity to the beach (the garden literally spills out onto the sand) meant that we could sit and watch the lapping waves (they didn't move beyond a gentle swish) whenever we wanted as it was just a short wander from our room. There's some kind of therapy to be found in watching water doing whatever it does, no matter if it's throwing up a storm or calm as anything at was here...
The garden blew us away; Traveller's Palms formed huge archways, Frangipani filled the air with the sweet smell of Marzipan and Breadfruit Fern huddled around the edges of the 4 freshwater lagoon-style pools. We wandered the gardens at every opportunity, discovering plants new to us as well as those that were familiar.
