Slottsholmen Hotel — Västervik, Sweden
*We were kindly hosted by Visit Sweden during our entire stay in the country but all words, pictures and opinions are our own.*
There are 11 suites that make up the accommodation to Slottsholmen’s hotel offering and ours was a vision in grey and oak with subtle brass accents.
This was a place that we LOVED because the interior was a tonal dream (you know we’re allergic to bright colours right?!) and there was a record player to use - expect nothing less from a hotel owned by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus who grew up in the area.
The jewel in the crown here was the food (a familiar theme if you’ve read any of our other Sweden posts) and all of the courses we ate were built around stories from key points in Björns life and brought to life with traditional Swedish ingredients. We (at least the non-veggie one of us) particularly enjoyed Squid Skopelos which was a reference to the filming of Mamma Mia movie and the Rose Hip Ice Cream which Björn has as a child in the form of a sweet soup.
